European October Game Sales Chart: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 tops the list
2024-11-22 13:56:48

According to the European GSD data report, the total sales of games in the European tracked market reached 18.5 million copies in October 2024, an increase of 12.4% compared to the same period last year. This growth was largely driven by the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in October, compared to last year's Modern Warfare 3, which hit the market in November.

Compared to Modern Warfare 3 at the same time last year, Black Ops 6 saw a 5% increase in sales within two weeks of its debut, but a 28% drop compared to 2022's Modern Warfare 2. It is worth noting that Black Ops 6 is the first to join the XGP service, and the purchases of this part of the players are not included in the statistics. As a result, the Call of Duty franchise on Xbox saw a significant month-on-month decline in sales.

Looking at the PlayStation console version alone, Black Ops 6 sales are up 26% compared to Modern Warfare 2 (there may be a typographical error here, as the increase here is more reasonable than the previous "28% decrease", but in order to maintain the meaning of the original text, it is still stated in the original text), and there is also a 2% increase compared to Modern Warfare 3. This shows that even without XGP users, the total number of players in the Call of Duty franchise has grown significantly this year.

Other new additions to this week's list include Dragon Ball Electro Blast! ZERO", which sold more than twice as many of its previous best-selling Dragon Ball games, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, in four weeks. In addition, Super Mario Party: Unprecedented Extravaganza is 6% lower than 2021's Mario Party: Superstars, but its overall performance is still excellent.

However, Konami's Silent Hill 2: Remake didn't do well in the horror game remake, with its four-week sales being much lower than Resident Evil 4 Remake and Dead Space: Remastered.

Dragon Age: Shadow Barrier Guardians ranked seventh a week after its release. While BioWare performed well in the UK, it was a little lackluster in the rest of Europe, with its new title selling lower than Dragon Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy 7: Reborn in its first week.

At the same time, the independently developed boxing game "Indisputable" also managed to make it into the top 10, achieving excellent results in both the UK and Europe.

On the other hand, Metaphorical Fantasy: ReFantazio, created by the same developers, did not make it into the top 10. Compared to Persona 5: The Royal Edition, its four-week sales have dropped by more than 32%. But for a brand new IP, this result is still quite good, even surpassing other "Persona" works except P5.

In terms of hardware, the tracking market sold a total of 422,000 consoles in October, down 26% year-on-year. Among them, PS5 sales fell by 29%, Switch sales fell by 10%, and Xbox sales fell by more than 49%. In addition, sales of peripherals/accessories also fell by nearly 13% year-on-year.
