Players of Call of Duty: Warzone have observed some strange and puzzling phenomena since the Season 1 update was released last week.

CharlieIntel tweeted their observations:

“Players have discovered that Call of Duty: Warzone is running significantly slower on Steam than on Battle.net and the Xbox PC app after the Season 1 update. Many people have reported that the Battle.net and Xbox app versions offer frame rates of over 100 to 200 FPS, while the Steam version is running at less than 80 FPS for some players.”

Before we get into the details, it’s important to note that we’re talking about Call of Duty: Warzone on PC here. Consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro don’t even come close to the performance of the game on Steam (even at reduced performance levels).

CharlieIntel's hints suggest that Call of Duty: Warzone is once again experiencing optimization issues, which may be related to specific settings made by Activision and Microsoft on their own platforms that are not implemented on Steam. There may be a fix that requires Steam's approval before it can be implemented, so players on Microsoft's platform can get this fix first.

We are sure that Activision will fix these problems sooner or later, and Call of Duty players will eventually experience the repaired game. However, this may also mean that loyal fans of Call of Duty may need to consider temporarily abandoning the Steam platform to ensure that they can enjoy their long-awaited annual game experience as soon as possible.
